Emmarentia Dam, within the Johannesburg Botanical Garden in the suburb of Emmarentia, is a public park and dam whose grounds serve as an open-air venue for concerts, festivals and cultural events. The banks of the dam provide a scenic outdoor setting used for summer sunset concerts and events such as the Holi One Colour Festival. Under banners like 'Emmarentia Live', the gardens have hosted festivals featuring major South African acts including Mango Groove, Mi Casa, Freshlyground, GoodLuck and Gangs of Ballet. It is an outdoor event location rather than a fixed indoor music venue. Die Heuwels Fantasties is an Afrikaans electro-rock band founded in 2008 by Hunter Kennedy and Pierre Greeff.
