Die Piesangskille ('The Banana Peels') is an Afrikaans pop duo comprising Daniël François Marais (vocals) and Johan Balt (guitar), who met as students at North-West University's Potchefstroom campus. In January 2023 they signed a two-album deal with Universal Music South Africa, releasing their debut single and video 'Mal Maandagaande' in May 2023, which charted on the Maroela Media Afrikaans Top 20. Their debut album Almal Gly (2023) was followed by Die Ontdekking (2024). Their track 'Inge 2' was certified platinum and 'Lyntjie' gold, and they have performed at festivals including Dolosfees and Stellenbosch Woordfees.
