About KeenToGo

Because hearing about it the day after is worse.

KeenToGo is a global live-music discovery directory. It tracks upcoming shows for the acts and venues you care about, so you find out about a gig before it happens — not the day after.

Where KeenToGo comes from

My love of live music goes back to this photo.

It was taken in 2003, in Oudtshoorn — a small town in South Africa — during the KKNK, one of the country's biggest arts festivals. Karen Zoid was on stage, in the middle of rewriting what original rock music could be in Afrikaans — real songs, in people's own language — and standing in that crowd, it felt like an absolute revelation. Somehow, with her blessing, I ended up on that stage with her. (That's me, arms in the air.)

That night stayed with me. Not long after, I bought a little theatre café in Stellenbosch called Dorpstraat Teater. Over the years I owned it, I hosted around 800 live shows — and I loved every minute of it. It also taught me, first-hand, what it actually takes to run a music venue.

Because live music stands on three legs. The fans, the bands, and the venue each need something different, and a great show only happens when all three come together — the same night, in the same room. Get that right and there's nothing else like it.

So I built KeenToGo: a directory of live shows where fans, venues, bands and acts can find each other. Built with love, out of South Africa — at a time when it's just as easy to do the same thing for the whole world.

How it works

Follow the acts you'd cross town for and the venues you trust.

When an act you follow books a venue you follow, that show jumps to the top of your personalised feed — so “you missed it” stops being a thing. KeenToGo is discovery-first, not a ticket seller: every show links out to wherever tickets are actually sold.

01

Follow what you love

Add the acts and venues that matter to you.

02

We do the watching

When something you follow lines up a show, it rises to the top of your feed — with notifications, so nobody finds out too late.

03

Bring your crew

Mark that you're going, show interest, and nudge the friends you'd want in the room with you.

04

Tap through for tickets

Every show links straight out to the official seller. No upsell, no clutter.

Countries

The catalogue spans South Africa — where KeenToGo started, from arena headliners to the Afrikaans festival circuit — plus the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and Europe, growing country by country. That's everything from a world tour at Madison Square Garden to a Friday-night bill at a room you'd never find on a big ticketing site. Acts, venues and shows are added continuously, and the catalogue stays fresh automatically.

Who's behind it

People who've stood in the crowd and run the room.

KeenToGo is built and run by Rohan Strydom— the one with his arms in the air above — with a small, South Africa-based team of live-music fans: people who've stood in the crowd and run the room. We compile the directory by hand: listings are sourced from venues, promoters, artists and official tour schedules, and each act and venue profile is written from publicly available information and checked before it goes live.

We don't sell tickets — our only job is to help you find the show. Spotted something out of date or missing? Tell us at us@keentogo.com and we'll fix it.

How we make money

Free to use, always. Some ticket links pay a commission.

When you tap Get tickets, you go to whoever is actually selling them — the promoter, a ticketing partner, or the venue's own box office.

For some sellers we're an affiliate: we earn a small commission on tickets bought through those links. You never pay more because of it.

It doesn't buy anyone a listing. What appears, and in what order, is decided by the catalogue and what you follow — never by who pays us. Plenty of shows we list earn us nothing, and they're listed exactly the same way.

FAQ

Does KeenToGo sell tickets?

How does KeenToGo make money?
For some ticket sellers we're an affiliate, so we earn a small commission if you buy through a 'Get tickets' link — at no extra cost to you. It never affects which shows we list or the order they appear in, and many of the shows we list earn us nothing.
