Spoegwolf

Spoegwolf is a South African Afrikaans rock band from Paarl, formed in 2012. The members are Danie du Toit (vocals, piano, guitar), Moskou du Toit (drums), Chris von Wielligh (guitar, piano) and Albert van der Merwe (bass, vocals). Known for their alternative rock sound, they became the first Afrikaans group to reach number one on Apple Music South Africa with their 2019 album Koma; their discography also includes Swaartekrag (2012), Somer (2015) and Die Donker Toring (2017). Frontman Danie du Toit — who performs under the name 'Reënwolf' — is also a published poet, and the band's confessional, often spiritual lyrics pair with cathartic, full-band live shows. Built on a fiercely loyal grassroots fanbase rather than mainstream radio, Spoegwolf has grown from the club circuit to selling out theatres and arenas across the country, and is now one of the most in-demand live draws in South African music.
