About
Babymetal formed in Tokyo in 2010 as a sub-unit of the idol group Sakura Gakuin, built on the idea of fusing heavy metal with the Japanese idol genre, and became an independent act in 2013. Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal), Moa Kikuchi (Moametal) and Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) front the group; the instrumentation is played by session musicians known as the Kami Band. Okazaki, a former backing dancer, joined officially in 2023. Metal Forth, released in August 2025 and the first album to feature her, is built around collaborations — Bring Me the Horizon, Electric Callboy and Tom Morello among them.
