Phoenix's largest outdoor concert venue, opened on 9 November 1990 with Billy Joel as its inaugural performer. It seats 8,106 under the pavilion roof plus another 12,000 on the hillside lawn, for a total topping 20,000. Known previously as Desert Sky Pavilion and Ak-Chin Pavilion, its concert season runs April through October. Babymetal formed in Tokyo in 2010 as a sub-unit of the idol group Sakura Gakuin, built on the idea of fusing heavy metal with the Japanese idol genre, and became an independent act in 2013.
