Raleigh's large outdoor amphitheater, originally Walnut Creek Amphitheatre, set on a 77-acre complex on the west bank of Walnut Creek. Built for $13.5 million, it opened on July 4, 1991 with the Connells. Seating runs to about 6,847 under and open cover, with lawn room for another 13,653. Live Nation operates it for big-name concerts. Babymetal formed in Tokyo in 2010 as a sub-unit of the idol group Sakura Gakuin, built on the idea of fusing heavy metal with the Japanese idol genre, and became an independent act in 2013.
