About
Trans-Siberian Orchestra is an American neoclassical metal band founded in 1996 by the producer, composer and lyricist Paul O'Neill, who assembled a creative core around Jon Oliva and Al Pitrelli, both of Savatage, and the keyboardist and co-producer Robert Kinkel. They began touring in 1999, the year after The Christmas Attic, and have since sold more than ten million concert tickets and over ten million albums, working through a run of rock operas that includes Christmas Eve and Other Stories, Beethoven's Last Night, The Lost Christmas Eve and Night Castle. The shows are built for scale, with a string section, lasers, moving trusses and effects cut to the music; The Washington Post called them "an arena-rock juggernaut" in 2007.
