About
Arkells are named after Arkell Street in the Westdale neighbourhood of Hamilton, where the original five lived and practised near McMaster University — Max Kerman met Mike DeAngelis at a Welcome Week event, the two of them discovering they had identical taste in music. They were briefly Charlemagne until another band threatened to sue. The albums have run to ten since Jackson Square in 2008, up to Between Us, and the Juno Awards have gone their way: New Group of the Year in 2010, then Rock Album of the Year for both High Noon and Rally Cry.
