G2 is the smaller of the two live rooms at The Garage, the nightclub and gig venue at 490 Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow. It hosts intimate gigs and club nights below the venue's larger Main Hall. Arkells are named after Arkell Street in the Westdale neighbourhood of Hamilton, where the original five lived and practised near McMaster University — Max Kerman met Mike DeAngelis at a Welcome Week event, the two of them discovering they had identical taste in music.
