A 3,000-cap hall opened in 2019 in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, built by Powderfinger's John Collins to give the Valley precinct its flagship stage. Del Amitri formed in Glasgow in 1980 around songwriter Justin Currie, whose account of the name is refreshingly unromantic: a corruption of "Dimitri", half-remembered from a film's closing credits in 1979, and emphatically not Greek for "from the womb".
