Bath Forum, known locally as The Forum, is a 1,640-capacity Art Deco venue on St James's Parade in central Bath. It opened in 1934 as the last Super Cinema of its kind to be built, designed by the architect A. S. Gray, and is listed Grade II*. The Bath Christian Trust bought the building in 1988; its Life Church Bath congregation meets there every Sunday, and the rest of the week it stages concerts and touring shows. Del Amitri formed in Glasgow in 1980 around songwriter Justin Currie, whose account of the name is refreshingly unromantic: a corruption of "Dimitri", half-remembered from a film's closing credits in 1979, and emphatically not Greek for "from the womb".
