The Fixx

The Fixx came out of London at the start of the 1980s and have kept an almost unchanged line-up ever since: Cy Curnin, Adam Woods, Rupert Greenall and Jamie West-Oram from the first records, and Dan K. Brown on bass for most of the decades since. The songs everyone knows — “Stand or Fall”, “Red Skies”, “Saved by Zero”, “One Thing Leads to Another” — were made with producer Rupert Hine, and they still open doors in America, where the band has toured almost every year. Curnin does not care for the “eighties band” label. “What is ’80s music? There’s ’70s music. There’s ’90s music,” he said, before allowing that it “was the last great original period of music”. Every Five Seconds (2022), their tenth album and first in nearly a decade, was cut live as a band — “the raw five parts clicking together became the basis of the songs”. On why the line-up has held: “We don’t compete; there’s no singular ego. There’s maybe a collective ego that we have.” September 2026 is a 19-city US tour shared with Colin Blunstone of The Zombies and Peter Asher of Peter and Gordon.
