MARIS is an American singer-songwriter, born Maris Maddux-Ward, who won the 10th First Night Spotlight on New Year's Eve 2014 and took part in American Idol season 16 in 2017. Her 2023 album Gravity came with a short film, Gravity: The EP: the Movie, and she has toured opening for Anna of the North, The Wrecks, Melt and Maude Latour, appearing at Boston Calling in 2024. "Give Me a Sign", featuring Caroline Kingsbury, reached a million streams within a month and picked up more than 25 Spotify editorial playlist placements; the two co-headlined a US tour from September 2025. She names Queen, Whitney Houston, Prince and One Direction among her influences.
