Utilita Arena Cardiff is an indoor arena on Mary Ann Street in central Cardiff, opened in 1993 as the Cardiff International Arena and holding up to about 7,500. Once known as the Motorpoint Arena, it is the Welsh capital's main indoor concert venue. Steven Patrick Morrissey, born on 22 May 1959 to working-class Irish immigrants in Old Trafford and raised in Stretford, came to prominence as the frontman and lyricist of the Smiths, whom he formed with Johnny Marr in 1982 and who lasted until 1987.
