The Don Haskins Center is an arena on the University of Texas at El Paso campus in El Paso, Texas, home to the UTEP Miners basketball teams and, by virtue of its size, the city's leading concert venue — a stage for the likes of Shakira, Britney Spears and Kiss. Steven Patrick Morrissey, born on 22 May 1959 to working-class Irish immigrants in Old Trafford and raised in Stretford, came to prominence as the frontman and lyricist of the Smiths, whom he formed with Johnny Marr in 1982 and who lasted until 1987.
