An $88 million, 3,023-seat performing arts facility in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. Its first public performance came in September 2021, ahead of an official opening that November, replacing the 2,400-seat War Memorial Auditorium torn down in October 2014. Named for Tanger Factory Outlet Centers CEO Steven Tanger, it hosts the Greensboro Symphony, Guilford College's Bryan Series, Broadway productions and concerts. Steven Patrick Morrissey, born on 22 May 1959 to working-class Irish immigrants in Old Trafford and raised in Stretford, came to prominence as the frontman and lyricist of the Smiths, whom he formed with Johnny Marr in 1982 and who lasted until 1987.
