The Orpheum Theatre at 842 South Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles opened in 1926 as the last of the city's Orpheum vaudeville houses and, after a major restoration begun in 1989, remains one of the best-preserved of LA's historic Broadway movie palaces, now used for concerts and events. Dweezil Zappa is an American rock guitarist and the son of Frank Zappa, and he was around the music industry from the start: he learned directly from guitarists including Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen, and released his first single — produced by Van Halen — at the age of 12.
