The Basement East is a live-music venue in the East Nashville neighbourhood of Nashville, Tennessee, the larger sibling of the original Basement club and nicknamed 'The Beast'. Destroyed by the tornado that struck Nashville in March 2020, it was rebuilt on its Woodland Street site and continues to showcase touring and local acts. Donny Benét is the persona of Sydney musician Benjamin Waples, who played double bass in jazz bands and synths and accordion in Italian bands around the city before stepping out alone.
