Variety Playhouse

Variety Playhouse is a music venue at 1099 Euclid Avenue NE, in the Little Five Points neighbourhood of Atlanta, Georgia. It books rock, indie, electronic, funk, country, folk, bluegrass, jazz, blues and world music alongside other live shows, and the room mixes theatre-style fixed seating on both levels with a lowered pit in front of the stage for standing and dancing. The building opened on 4 October 1940 as the Euclid Theatre, one of three cinemas Lucas and Jenkins Theatres built in Atlanta that year, with My Favorite Wife as its first film; it closed as a cinema in 1962 and spent two decades in other uses, including a spell as a plumbing-supplies warehouse. It took the name Variety Playhouse in 1989, has been run as a concert hall since September 1990, and reopened on 28 September 2016 after a full renovation that lowered the pit, rebuilt the balcony and replaced the main-level seating and bars.
