A 1913 working men's club in Hyde Park, Leeds, reborn as one of Britain's best-loved independent venues. Still a social enterprise with its community-club soul intact, its two 400-cap rooms host everyone from cult heroes to arena acts playing secret shows. The Skids were a Scottish punk and new-wave band formed in Dunfermline in 1977, fronted by Richard Jobson and featuring guitarist Stuart Adamson (later of Big Country), best known for the 1979 single 'Into the Valley.'
