A 1928 movie palace at Flatbush and DeKalb that put on jazz, blues and early rock and roll, closed in 1962, and spent the next six decades as Long Island University's basketball court. Restoration began in 2017 and it reopened as a venue in 2024. Social Distortion are an American punk rock band formed in Fullerton, California, in 1978 by Mike Ness, who remains the only constant member of a much-changed line-up.
