A 1928 movie palace at Flatbush and DeKalb that put on jazz, blues and early rock and roll, closed in 1962, and spent the next six decades as Long Island University's basketball court. Restoration began in 2017 and it reopened as a venue in 2024. Nation of Language is an American synth-pop band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2016, led by vocalist Ian Devaney with Aidan Noell on synthesizers.
