A Manchester institution named for the stage once bolted halfway up its wall — jazz, punk and world music have run through it since the 1930s. Lusaint was born Lucy Hopkins in Stretford, and started out recording covers while working in a clothing store after university, making CDs and handing them to local restaurants until gigs around Manchester followed.
