South London's art-deco cathedral of live music since 1929, with its famous sloped floor and 4,900 capacity — the room where live albums are made and careers are crowned. Ezra Collective are a British jazz quintet — Femi Koleoso on drums and leading, TJ Koleoso on bass, Joe Armon-Jones on keyboards, Ife Ogunjobi on trumpet and James Mollison on tenor saxophone — who met at the jazz youth programme Tomorrow's Warriors and formed soon afterwards.

No. It opened on 19 August 1929 as the Astoria, a cinema and variety palace, reopened briefly in 1972 as the Sundown, and became Brixton Academy on 7 October 1983 with a set from reggae artist Eek-a-Mouse. The Grade II listed building still has its 140ft dome and a stage framed like Venice's Rialto bridge.
