Shed Seven are an English alternative rock band formed in York in 1990 around singer Rick Witter, bassist Tom Gladwin and drummer Alan Leach. They have achieved fifteen top 40 singles and five top 40 albums in the UK, and in 1996 had more hit singles than any other act, the high point being "Going For Gold", which entered the chart at number 8 and remains their biggest chart hit. The band broke up in 2003 but reformed for a greatest-hits tour in July 2007. Their commercial peak came two decades later: A Matter of Time (2024) was the first number one album of their career, and Liquid Gold, released that September, gave them a second.
