About
Rise Against are an American punk rock band from Chicago, formed in 1999 by bassist Joe Principe and guitarist Dan Wleklinski, who recruited vocalist and rhythm guitarist Tim McIlrath; lead guitarist Zach Blair and drummer Brandon Barnes complete the current line-up. Fat Wreck Chords released The Unraveling (2001) and Revolutions per Minute (2003) before Siren Song of the Counter Culture (2004) and the singles "Give It All" and "Swing Life Away" brought mainstream success. Endgame (2011) peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, and "Savior" broke the record for the most consecutive weeks on the Hot Rock Songs and Alternative Songs charts. Their lyrics cover politics, animal rights and environmentalism. Tenth album Ricochet arrived in 2025, and the second North American leg of its 2026 headlining tour runs September 22 to October 23, 2026, with Alkaline Trio as support.
