Dax, born Daniel Nwosu Jr. in St. John's, Newfoundland, in 1994 to Nigerian immigrant parents, is a Canadian rapper whose style crosses hip-hop, R&B, country rap and comedy rap. He began rapping in 2016 and drew early attention with tracks built around blunt, hyper-literal storytelling, releasing his debut EP It's Different Now in 2018 and his first studio album Pain Paints Paintings in 2021. In 2022 he signed to Barry Weiss's RECORDS label, and his single "Dear Alcohol" went on to earn platinum certification in both the US and Canada. His 2023 track "To Be a Man" topped Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales chart. A relentless self-promoter with a large online following, Dax has toured widely, opening for Tech N9ne and Joyner Lucas and playing state fairs across North America.
