Arch Enemy is a Swedish melodic death metal band formed in Halmstad in 1995, originally as a supergroup — its members had played in Carcass, Armageddon, Carnage, Mercyful Fate, Spiritual Beggars, The Agonist, Nevermore, Eucharist and Once Human. Carcass guitarist Michael Amott founded it with Johan Liiva, both previously of Carnage. Liiva fronted the band until 2000, when Angela Gossow took over; Gossow left in March 2014 to become the group's manager and was replaced by Alissa White-Gluz, who in turn left at the end of 2025. Lauren Hart was announced as the new frontwoman on 19 February 2026.
