Andrea Bocelli, born on 22 September 1958, is an Italian tenor who rose to fame in 1994 by winning the newcomers' section of the 44th Sanremo Music Festival with "Il mare calmo della sera". Since then he has recorded 15 solo studio albums of pop and classical music and nine complete operas, and sold over 90 million records — Romanza is one of the best-selling albums of all time and Sacred Arias the biggest-selling classical album by any solo artist in history. "Con te partirò", his duet with Sarah Brightman, is among the best-selling singles ever recorded. Celine Dion has said that if God had a singing voice, it would sound a lot like his.
