An integrated resort and casino at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, beside the Nerang River, opened in November 1985 as Conrad Jupiters and rebranded The Star Gold Coast in 2017. The seven-acre complex holds eight bars, seven restaurants, a ballroom, conference facilities and a theatre, has 1,171 hotel rooms, and connects to the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Its theatre reopened in June 2012 after a $20 million expansion that more than doubled capacity to 2,000 seated or 2,300 general admission, adding a balcony level of up to 300 seats. The TEN Tenors began in Brisbane in 1995 as a one-off — a corporate booking taken by what the group's own history calls “a slightly rag tag group of young blokes from Brisbane's Conservatorium of Music”.
