The TEN Tenors began in Brisbane in 1995 as a one-off — a corporate booking taken by what the group's own history calls “a slightly rag tag group of young blokes from Brisbane's Conservatorium of Music”. They started touring Australia properly in 1997 and have not really stopped since: well over 3,000 performances across 37 countries, 15 studio albums with worldwide sales past 1.2 million, and stages including the Royal Albert Hall, the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and the Sydney Opera House. Roughly 60 singers have passed through the line-up. The act is ten-part harmony applied to whatever they feel like. Nessun Dorma, Largo al Factotum and the Pearl Fishers Duet share a set with Bohemian Rhapsody, Hallelujah, Shallow and Funiculì, Funiculà — the group's own news pages file this under “popera”, the label that stuck to everything that followed the Three Tenors. Producer and long-time manager D-J Wendt describes joining as a closed shop that does not take itself too seriously: “We don't have a secret tattoo or a ring, but for a time there we did have the secret cuff links that were worn on stage.” Michael Edwards joined in 2014 and has been musical director since 2018; Cameron Barclay, an Aucklander in his thirteenth year with the group, took on the choreography in 2021. In December 2025 the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Adrian Schrinner, awarded the group the Key to the City to mark thirty years, and they say they have raised more than $11 million for charities along the way.

Are there really ten of them on stage?
Yes — ten tenors, singing in ten parts, with a small band behind them. There is an eleventh man on the road: the group lists Ammon Bennett, a tenor from Mandurah who joined in 2022, as the swing, meaning he covers any of the ten. Around 60 singers have been through the line-up since 1995.
Is it the same ten singers every tour?
No, and the group is open about it. The roster turns over, and their own 30th-anniversary announcement named a different set of tenors from the one currently listed. As of the line-up published on their site, the ten are Michael Edwards, Cameron Barclay, Ben Clark, Sam Ward, Andrew Waldin, Jack Jordan, Shaun Kohlman, Nicholas Matters, Ben Cody-Osborne and Thomas Weaver.
Is this opera or is it a pop concert?
Both, in the same night. Nessun Dorma, Largo al Factotum and the Pearl Fishers Duet are staples, and so are Bohemian Rhapsody, Hallelujah, Shallow and Time of My Life. The group's own news pages use the word “popera” for it. There is choreography, and Cameron Barclay — who does the staging — says the aim is audiences getting up and dancing.
Are The Ten Tenors connected to The Three Tenors?
Not directly. They formed in Brisbane in 1995, in the wake of the Pavarotti–Domingo–Carreras concerts that had made large-scale tenor shows a global phenomenon, and the crossover style that followed is what they built on. The Three Tenors were three soloists; this is a ten-man ensemble that sings in harmony and dances.
What is A Not So Silent Night?
Their brand-new Christmas tour of Australia: eleven performances in eight cities between 3 and 19 December 2026, opening at QPAC in Brisbane and finishing at His Majesty's Theatre in Perth. Musical director Mikey Edwards said of it: “Christmas is our favourite time of the year and it's always a special experience — to get out on stage and see and hear the audience as they sing along to all our favourite Christmas tunes.”
Are any of the December 2026 shows sold out?
One, as of 3 September 2026: the 2pm matinee at QPAC in Brisbane on 3 December. The 7:30pm performance that evening is still on sale, as are the Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide and Perth dates. Brisbane, Newcastle and Perth each play a matinee and an evening.
Do The Ten Tenors have a Christmas album?
Yes — Our Christmas Wish, released in November 2015, was their tenth studio album and reached number 16 on the ARIA chart that December.
Where are The Ten Tenors from?
Brisbane. The group started at the city's Conservatorium of Music in 1995 and Brisbane gave them the Key to the City in December 2025 for their thirtieth anniversary. The current ten are not all Australian, though: Cameron Barclay is from Auckland and Thomas Weaver was born in Britain.
