Foundry is the club and live music venue on Floor 2 of the University of Sheffield Students' Union, where three linked spaces — Foundry, Studio and Fusion — are used together under the one name. It is one of the most popular nightclub venues in Sheffield, running the union's weekly club nights alongside live music, gigs, conferences and fairs; the same floor holds the 390-seat Nelson Mandela Auditorium. The union provides for over 270 student societies and has one of the largest beer gardens in the city. The Molotovs are siblings Mathew and Issey Cartlidge, from London, who formed the band in 2020 as The Mocktales and renamed it for the cocktail and, as Mathew put it, their rebellious energy.
