The Varsity Theater is a live-music venue in the Dinkytown district near the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, a former movie house known for its ornate, eclectic interior and now used for concerts and events. The Matches are an American rock band from Oakland, California, formed in 1997 by schoolmates who first played as the Locals before adopting the name in 2002.
