A Grade II-listed Art Deco venue on Commercial Road in Stepney, East London, opened in 1933 as a cinema. After stints as an opera training school and a 1980s bingo hall, it was converted for live events in 2006. Listed in 1990, the 3,100-capacity hall is a treasured piece of East London history, with an extension to 3,600 planned for 2026. The Lemonheads are an alternative-rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1986 and built around singer-songwriter Evan Dando, best known for the 1992 album It's a Shame About Ray and their hit cover of Simon & Garfunkel's 'Mrs. Robinson.'
