Hugh's Jazz Club is a live-music venue in Johannesburg. McCoy Mrubata is a South African jazz saxophonist, born in 1959 in Langa, Cape Town, where he grew up surrounded by African hymns — the sounds of the Zion churches, and the brassy Merry Macs band who rehearsed opposite his home.
