The Lower Third is a basement live-music venue on Denmark Street — London's historic 'Tin Pan Alley' — within the Outernet development near Tottenham Court Road. It is named after the Lower Third, the mid-1960s band that backed a young David Bowie, and hosts emerging and cult touring artists. Mackenzy Mackay is a British singer-songwriter, originally from Yorkshire and now based in London, who works in a pop and indie-pop vein coloured by hip-hop, soul and R&B. He spent a stretch making music in New Zealand before returning to the UK, and broke through with the single "The One That You Call", which found a wide streaming audience.
