The Cluny 2 is a small live-music room in the Ouseburn Valley of Newcastle upon Tyne, the more intimate sister space to the adjacent Cluny bar and music venue. Kristin Hersh was given a guitar at nine and had talked her best friend Tanya Donelly into starting a band by fourteen; Throwing Muses followed in 1981, while both were still at high school in Newport.
