The National is a live-music and performing-arts venue on East Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia, housed in a 1923 theatre that once screened films as well as staging shows. After years as the Towne Theater cinema it was restored and reopened as The National in 2008, and is the last survivor of Broad Street's original trio of grand auditoriums. Jesse Allen Breckenridge Wells, who performs as Jesse Welles, is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born on 22 November 1992.
