A three-storey Victorian institute for the deaf turned Manchester indie landmark — its domed music hall, wallpapered walls and tiered standing floor host the city's best small-stage bills. Hovvdy are the Austin duo of Charlie Martin and Will Taylor, whose soft-focus 'pillowcore' has grown into some of indie's warmest songwriting.
