The Echo is an intimate indie and alternative music venue at 1822 West Sunset Boulevard in the Echo Park neighbourhood of Los Angeles, opened in 2001 and run by Spaceland Presents. Together with its larger downstairs room, the Echoplex, it has long been a launchpad for the city's independent bands. Emperor X is the project of American singer-songwriter Chad Randall Matheny, born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1979 and active since 1998.
