The University of Liverpool's students' union, founded in 1889 with its building raised in 1911. A £14.25m refurbishment in 2013 added a cinema, theatre, four bars, dance studios and an underground nightclub, plus a 2,300-capacity gig venue at its heart. The Guild regularly stages live music, theatre and comedy. Don Broco are an English rock band from Bedford, formed in 2008 by schoolfriends who played their first gigs at Bedford Modern School but only committed to the band after studying at Nottingham University.
