A 2,100-seat West End house on Wellington Street, just off the Strand in the City of Westminster. The site has been in the entertainment business since 1765: under Samuel Arnold's management from 1794 it held a circus staged by Philip Astley, a chapel, and the first London exhibition of Madame Tussaud's waxworks — a run of tenants no other theatre in London can match. The Lion King is a stage musical based on the 1994 Walt Disney Animation Studios film, with a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi.
