A landmark concert venue and former theatre in Camden Town, London. Opened in 1900 as The Camden Theatre, it passed through lives as the Camden Hippodrome, a cinema, a wartime closure and a long BBC tenancy, before reopening in 1977 as The Music Machine and, from 1982, the Camden Palace. An extensive restoration brought it back as KOKO, since described as one of London's premier live venues. The Chameleons are an English post-punk band formed in Middleton, Greater Manchester, in 1981 by Mark Burgess, Reg Smithies and Dave Fielding, later joined by drummer John Lever.
