The West Hollywood club where Elton John made his US debut, Tom Waits and Joni Mitchell were discovered, and Guns N' Roses were signed. Since 1957 its 500-cap floor has been rock's proving ground. Cardinals are an Irish six-piece from Cork, formed by musicians from nearby Kinsale, whose brooding indie rock folds in shoegaze, post-punk and touches of traditional Irish music.
