The Royal Oak Music Theatre is a concert venue in Royal Oak, Michigan, housed in a 1928 building that opened as a vaudeville theatre and now hosts touring music and comedy acts. Bikini Kill formed in Olympia, Washington in October 1990 — Kathleen Hanna singing and writing, Billy Karren on guitar, Kathi Wilcox on bass and Tobi Vail on drums — and pioneered the riot grrrl movement with feminist lyrics and fiery, abrasive, hardcore-influenced performances.
