The Lexington is a pub and 200-capacity live-music venue on Pentonville Road in Islington, London, with an American-style bar downstairs and a gig room upstairs. It is a fixture for emerging and touring indie, folk and rock acts. Kristin Hersh was given a guitar at nine and had talked her best friend Tanya Donelly into starting a band by fourteen; Throwing Muses followed in 1981, while both were still at high school in Newport.
