Named after Ruth Eckerd, wife of businessman Jack Eckerd, its 2,180-seat auditorium uses continental seating with no center aisle. A regular home for the Florida Orchestra, it also draws touring concerts. Alice Cooper is an American rock singer, born Vincent Furnier in Detroit in 1948, who pioneered theatrical 'shock rock' first with a band of the same name formed in Phoenix in 1964 and later as a solo artist.
