Zach Top grew up on a ranch in Sunnyside, Washington, and started out in Top String, a bluegrass band with his siblings. He enrolled in mechanical engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, dropped out after a year citing a lack of interest, worked to save money and moved to Nashville in 2021, signing a publishing deal with Major Bob Music. He began recording as a solo artist in 2019 and released a self-titled debut EP with RBR Entertainment in May 2022. Signed to Leo33 in 2023, he has released Cold Beer & Country Music and Ain't in It for My Health, charting four singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. His sound is neotraditional country.
