The Richard Pryor Band is a South African blues-rock outfit led by Cape Town guitarist Richard Pryor, who studied jazz at the University of Cape Town and founded the Blues Meets Rock festival. Rather than a single-artist tribute, the band plays a 'Blues meets Rock' set of covers spanning the 1970s, '80s and '90s, drawing on artists such as Tina Turner, Etta James, Journey, Prince, AC/DC and The Doobie Brothers. The line-up typically features guitar, rhythm section, keyboards and two female lead vocalists. Pryor also performs with the Boulevard Blues Band.
